Why we've come together

We each spend our working lives supporting women in different ways. Some of us work in policy. Some in research. Some in coaching, leadership, workplace health and organisational change.

Together, we've listened to thousands of women, partnered with employers across many sectors, and seen first-hand both the progress that's been made and the challenges that still remain. We also know organisations want to do better. They're looking for practical guidance, evidence-informed thinking, and the chance to learn from others facing the same challenges.

One thing unites us. No woman should feel she has to step back, step down or step away from work because of her health or stage of life.

That's why we've come together. NTTSB is evolving into a national Learning Community, bringing organisations together to learn, collaborate and take meaningful action to improve women's experiences at work.

The Learning Community

A place to learn together, not alone

No single organisation has all the answers. The greatest progress happens when we learn from one another, share practice across sectors and turn ideas into meaningful action.

01

Learn

Evidence-informed thinking and practical guidance, drawn from thousands of women's experiences and employers across many sectors.

02

Collaborate

A cross-sector community where relationships are formed, ideas are shared and no organisation has to work it out on its own.

03

Act

A shared commitment to turn conversation into collaboration, and collaboration into meaningful change at work.

The invitation

Join the Founding Cohort

We're inviting 20 to 22 organisations to become the NTTSB Founding Cohort, with two delegates from each joining the journey. Together, we'll build the community from the ground up, beginning with a four-part Masterclass Journey.

The Four Pillars

Four pillars, one golden thread

Our journey begins with a four-part masterclass series. Each explores a different pillar, and running through every conversation is our golden thread: allyship.

Pillar 01

Intersectional

Women are not one audience. Age, ethnicity, disability, class and circumstance all shape the experience of work, and progress has to hold all of them at once.

Pillar 02

Impact

Turning good intention into measurable change, so that better policy and practice show up in women's real working lives.

Pillar 03

Intergenerational

From early career to later life, every stage brings its own challenges. We learn most when generations share what they know.

Pillar 04

International

Learning that reaches beyond one country's borders, drawing on what works for women at work around the world.

Each masterclass encourages delegates to explore three simple questions: Challenge. Practice. Opportunity.

The golden thread

Allyship runs through everything

Allyship isn't a fifth pillar. It's the thread woven through all four, because progress for women at work is never made by women alone. When we choose to notice, to speak up and to make space for one another, we turn shared understanding into real change.

Challenge

What holds women back here, and what are we willing to question?

Practice

What are we already doing, and what could we do differently tomorrow?

Opportunity

Where can allyship turn good intention into meaningful, lasting change?

Three questions in every masterclass. One thread through them all.

The Masterclass Journey

Four masterclasses, one journey

The journey begins in London this October and continues across three further masterclasses. Founding Cohort delegates join the whole series.

The Founding Collective

The people building this together

NTTSB has been created by a Founding Collective united by shared values and a belief that collaboration is one of the most powerful drivers of change.

Founder

Helen Tomlinson

Head of Inclusion & Employability, Adecco

Helen Tomlinson is a recognised leader in inclusion, employability, and women's health in the workplace. As the former UK Government's Menopause Employment Champion, she worked in partnership with the Department for Work and Pensions to shape employer-led strategies that support, retain, and progress women experiencing menopause. Her work centres on embedding cultural change through the four pillars she is known for championing: Education, Advocacy, Lived Experience, and Active Leadership.

With a strong commitment to intersectional women's health, Helen developed a sector-based national strategy that enables employers to build environments where women can thrive at every stage of their working lives. She is the founder of No Time To Step Back, a collaboration of employers dedicated to transforming women's workplace experiences, and serves as an Ambassador for Wellbeing of Women.

Across her 30-year career in recruitment, employability, commercial management and strategic HR, the golden thread has remained constant: championing equity and enabling people to succeed at work. As Head of Inclusion & Employability for Adecco, Helen drives strategies aligned with Adecco's purpose of making the future work for everyone, creating equitable pathways so individuals can access and sustain meaningful employment.

“No Time To Step Back means exactly that. For too long, women have been quietly leaving work at the very moment they should be stepping into their most senior roles. This is about making sure no woman feels she has to step back, step down or step away because of her health or her stage of life. When we get this right, everyone benefits.”
